Press release n. 13_10/30/2008
ASEPTIC TECHNOLOGY

GEA Procomac, a company of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft specialized in aseptic filling technology for PET containers, has received an order for a low acid aseptic filling line from Nestlé USA to be delivered in 2009.

The line will be installed in Anderson, Indiana, in a new Nestlé USA production facility where GEA Procomac has already installed 5 aseptic lines sharing the same technology.
GEA Procomac SAFEASEPTIC™ technology has received a letter of non-objection (LNO) from the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for aseptic filling systems for low acid shelf-stable products in April 2008.

GEA Procomac FDA-compliant aseptic filling technology uses peracetic acid (PAA) in liquid form to sterilize containers and caps. GEA Procomac has pioneered a number of aseptic technologies in the past ten years, including the use of a microbiological isolator technology instead of the traditional clean room environment for aseptic filling lines.

The line consists of all equipment to sterilize, rinse, fill and cap bottles, as well as all machines connected to the handling, sterilization and application of caps. Furthermore, all ancillary units to provide sterilizing solution, sterile water and keep aseptic conditions inside the working area are integrated in the supply and are all designed, built and installed by GEA Procomac.
Massimo Beretta (Managing Director of GEA Procomac) underlines that being part of GEA Group is instrumental to further develop cutting-edge aseptic technology by GEA Procomac: “GEA Procomac has now access to a wide portfolio of technologies that lie within GEA Group expertise. Moreover, we can capitalize on GEA worldwide sales and service network to straighten our market position”.

He is also pleased with the results of GEA Procomac relationship with Nestlé on a number of projects: “Our partnership with Nestlé team has always been positive from the first meetings. The bold targets of this challenging projects have pushed us to extend our know-how in a number of organizational and technological aspects. I am sure this will translate in a better GEA Procomac technology and a better service for Nestlé and for all our customers”.

Nestlé has expressed their willingness to continue to work with GEA Procomac on similar challenging future projects.
